Idée's Image Recognition Technology Enhances Social–Content Sites
TORONTO, ON --(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Image recognition market leader Idée Inc. today announced that its powerful image recognition technology effectively helps social–content sites improve their user experience by identifying duplicate content. Idée's advanced image recognition technology identifies all variations of an image or video before it is added to the pool of site content, with unmatched speed and accuracy.
Digg.com, the pioneering social–content website, is using Idée's image recognition technology for Digg's new dedicated images section. Digg has selected Idée's image recognition technology, based on its ability to analyze, index and search through Digg's user–submitted images to identify duplicate and image variants.
"Twenty–five million people a month visit Digg to discover and share the best content from anywhere on the web, and they submit more than 10,000 news stories, videos and images per day," said Chris Howard, Director of Product Management. "Idée's innovative image recognition technology helps prevent users from submitting duplicate images or slight variations of the same image multiple times."
When users submit images to Digg, Idée's technology searches through all previously–submitted images, and displays matches in order of relevance, allowing the user to decide whether to Digg a previously–submitted image or to submit their original entry.
"As a pioneer in image recognition, Idée is committed to enhancing the user experience of social–content sites delivering images and videos," said Leila Boujnane, CEO of Idée Inc. "Idée's image recognition technologies enable us to work with social–content sites and offer innovative solutions to eliminate duplicate content, providing a streamlined user experience."
Idée's image recognition technology is part of a suite of ground–breaking and accurate image search solutions. It creates a unique digital fingerprint of each image based on its visual characteristics, and through its search identifies images even when they have been cropped, rotated, colour–changed, flipped and obscured with text or other images.
