Leila Boujnane Named as Finalist in Second-annual Canadian New Media Awards
Toronto, May 22nd, 2001 – Leila Boujnane of Idée inc. has been recognized as one of Canada's new media leaders. Boujnane is one of 5 finalists to be named in the "Volunteer of the Year" category of the 2001 Canadian New Media Awards.
"I am thrilled to be a finalist in the 2001 Canadian New Media Awards. My involvement with the non–profit sector includes initiatives ranging from wildlife conservation to youth, mentoring and community ventures" says Leila Boujnane, CEO, Idée Inc. "We are often choosing volunteer projects as part of our company's corporate projects because we believe in getting personally involved in our communities. It is about passion, people and making a difference."
60 finalists in 12 categories were selected from over 560 nominations received during February and March 2001. A selection committee comprised of 121 new media professionals from across the country collaborated online to select the finalists. "The caliber of this year's finalists proves that the Canadian new media industry is alive and well," says Adam Froman, president of Delvinia Inc., producers of the Canadian New Media Awards. "This year's finalists represent the industry's best and brightest, and they rival the talent of other new media industries around the world."
Winners will be announced at an award ceremony on May 28 at 7:30 PM in the Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto, Ontario. A reception will be held afterwards in the Atrium of the Canadian Broadcasting Centre. Tickets to the reception can be purchased through Ticketmaster for $25 plus service charges ($15 for students).
