Search by Visual Similarity

Use visual search to find the photos you want fast. Choose up to four source photos in the browser window and automatically find other photos similar in appearance.

Visual search is a great way to find and organize photographs taken with a similar look, background, color scheme or layout regardless of when the photo was taken or if it has been tagged.

Searching by visual similarity is the easiest way to locate multiple versions of the same image, and works hand-in-hand with the Stack command, which allows you to group together different versions of the same photo.

Adobe® Photoshop® Elements 6.0 keeps track of and displays all your photos in one convenient location. No matter how many photos you have or where they are located, Photoshop Elements locates the ones you want in a variety of ways:

Keyword Tags

Easily tag photos with keywords that represent favorite people, places or events.

Collections

Place your family, work, or vacation photos into collections to keep them together for special projects

Photo Browser

Provides features to focus in on a portion of your photo library including Timeline, Import Batch, Folder Location and Find by History

Visual Similarity

Automatically find visually similar photographs; your photographs may share common characteristics such as color, shape, pattern or composition amongst other things.

Performing a Visual Search

To quickly perform a visual search:

  • In the browser window, select up to four source images to perform your search by using Ctrl+Click
  • In the Find menu, choose 'By Visual Similarity with Selected Photo(s)'

or

  • Simply drag a photo to the Find target area

Your photos are automatically arranged by visual similarity starting with the very best matches
