Idée is seeking an excellent Cluster Administrator to work within our systems group.

As a Cluster Administrator your responsibilities and main tasks will include:

  • Elegantly automating repetitive tasks using a scripting language and other tools. The testing and debugging of these scripts.
  • Hardware and software installation and upgrades for servers and desktops
  • Administering, troubleshooting and upgrading the systems and network infrastructure
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting a High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster
  • Monitoring and optimizing storage and network performance of the cluster
  • Responsible for regular backups and periodical tests for backup retrievals
  • Monitoring, upgrading and fixing security related issues on in–house and offsite servers

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of administration experience in a Linux environment, with some Windows expertize as well
  • You have authored scripts of over 200 lines of code, tested and deployed them.
  • Excellent knowledge of
    • Scripting languages: python, bash, perl
    • Basic hardware components and peripherals
    • SuSE and Debian distributions
    • Compiling, Installing, Upgrading and Maintaining linux packages
    • DHCP, DNS, NFS, SNMP, VPN, LDAP, SAMBA, SMTP, Apache, SSH
    • Switches, routers, firewalls
  • A careful person that pays attention to both overall objectives as well as small details
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills, including strong project management capabilities
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to work effectively with a number of team members in a variety of departments
  • Self–motivated and able to work independently with minimal guidance
  • Positive attitude in stressful situations
